New Railway Alignment in the South
The Netivot - Goral project included the construction of a 30 km.-long railway alignment contributing to the reduction of geographical distances in the region by offering fast access to the main cities and increasing the scope of employment opportunities. The Netivot - Goral section is part of a larger project for doubling the railway tracks between Ashkelon and Beer sheva.
The process for laying the new rail alignment included elimination of some of the existing curves and increasing radii to improve and upgrade the train journey. The project was implemented using the DB technique and was characterised by the laying of infrastructures for 4 grade separations and 7 railway bridges. For this purpose a number of field facilities were set up for producing the supports and girders for the bridges.
During the project, over 1,000,000,000 cubic meters of excavation and filling work were completed. Additionally, large-scale sealing operations, leveling, and the construction of retaining walls were carried out to ensure the stability and integrity of the development.
